Inaugural Mother’s Day brunch at Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar

Executive Chef Sheila Lucero offers 13 custom dishes for a special Mother’s Day brunch

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (April 30, 2015) – Jax Fish House and Oyster Bar is serving its inaugural Mother’s Day brunch on Sunday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a time that Jax is typically closed for business. The Mother’s Day brunch menu includes 13 custom creations intended to celebrate the mothers of Kansas City.

Immediately following the brunch, a special Mother’s Day happy hour will be offered from 3 – 6 p.m. with live music by Kim Sivils on the piano & Steve Rigazzi on the upright bass.

Mother’s Day Brunch

Biscuits & Gravy

Chive biscuits, soft scrambled egg, black pepper gravy

Pernod Lox

Asparagus, chive flowers, cured egg yolks, meringue wafers, 4 minute egg mayo, preserved lemon vinaigrette

Fried Green Tomatoes

Pimento cheese, creamed spinach, tomato jam, sunny side egg 

Shrimp & Grits

Heirloom grits, oyster mushrooms, peppers, red eye gravy

Fried Chicken on Johnny Cakes

Blackberry and bourbon glaze, lardo sausage, slaw, maple butter

Smoked Trout Benny

Caramelized fennel, grilled baguette, basil hollandaise, poached egg, capers 

Callah French Toast

Mascarpone scented with fenugreek, candy spiced pecans, berries, salted butter 

Jumbo Lump Blue Crab Cake

Grilled lemon tartar, herb salad

     American Kobe Beef Burger

Old bay fries, add blue cheese, cheddar, bacon, fried eggs or fried oysters

Lobster Roll

Smoked bacon, celery aioli, house pickles

 Bakkafrost Salmon Salad

Goatsbeard goat cheese, petit seasonal vegetables, garlic croutons, white balsamic vinaigrette

Coquillo Olive Pappardelle

Pearl onion, charbroiled octopus, Spanish chorizo, chicories and citrus gremolata

Grilled Swordfish

Fregola sarda, herbs, braised kohlrabi, mission fig mostarda
