Everyone Likes a Free Show! METdance celebrates summer and concludes its 20th anniversary season with a free show at Miller Outdoor Theatre, Friday, June 3

Who can beat a free summer show – enjoying the arts under the stars in Miller Outdoor Theatre?

METdance is kicking off the summer and concluding its 20th anniversary season with a free concert: “Celebrating 20! Sizzling Summer Dance.” The concert is slated for 8:30 pm on Friday, June 3 at the Miller Outdoor Theatre, 6000 Hermann Park Drive.

“This will be a diverse program bursting with energy, music and spirit to appeal to people of all ages,” artistic director Marlana Doyle said. “Whether you’re a seasoned METdance fan or brand-new to dance, you won’t want to miss this show.”

The concert will feature two world premiere performances -- a new work by Dallas-based choreographer Joshua L. Peugh, one of Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch for 2015” and a piece by METdance’s 2016 “Emerging Choreographer” Caterina Rago.

The show will include a few of METdance’s most celebrated works, like “Stirring Simple Gifts in Shades of Blue,” by Caleb Mitchell, “Snow Playground,” by Katarzyna Skarpetowska and a celebration of the people and culture of New Orleans called “New Second Line” by Camille A. Brown.

Youth training company MET too will also be performing as part of the event.

Free tickets will be available for the covered seating area while they last at the Miller Outdoor Theatre Box Office on the day of the performance, between the hours of 10:30 am and 1 pm. If tickets remain at 1 pm, the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute remaining tickets. Open seating is available on the hill.
