Ford Fund Honors 2014 Detroit-Area Blue Oval Scholars

  •   More than 175 Detroit-area high school students from 10 schools selected as 2014 Blue Oval Scholars and awarded a total of  $100,000 in scholarships

DETROIT, June 10, 2014 – Ford Motor Company Fund will celebrate the achievements of more than 175 graduating seniors from 10 Detroit-area high schools at its sixth annual Blue Oval Scholarship program. The awards, ranging from $250 to $1,000, will be presented June 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History.

Blue Oval Scholarships encourage students to show improvement in their academic achievement and overall school performance and encourages pursuit of post-high school educational goals. In the six-year history of the program, Ford has awarded $600,000 in scholarships to assist over 800 Detroit-area high school students with tuition, books, fees and other educational costs.

 This year’s recipients come from 10 area high schools: Central Collegiate Academy, Cody, Osborn, Southeastern and Western – all in Detroit; and Harper Woods High School, Mt. Clemens High School, Pontiac High School, River Rouge High School and Ypsilanti High School.

 The Ford Blue Oval Scholarship program provides more than $1 million in scholarships to more than 1,000 students each year.
