Artists’ reception for “Capturing Beauty” Friday, July 11
The Ann Korologos Gallery presents ‘Capturing Beauty: Still Lifes by Sarah Lamb and Roseta Santiago’ at the exhibition’s artists’ reception, Friday, July 11 from 5pm to 7pm. Both artists will be in attendance, and refreshments will be served.
Sarah Lamb and Roseta Santiago rank among the top contemporary realist painters. Although their work reflects distinct subjects and styles, they share many similarities. Gallery director Julia Novy notes, "We think Sarah and Roseta complement each other perfectly. Both artists exhibit a deep love for painting and strive to find the sensitivity, beauty and emotion associated with everyday objects. Each still life suggests a story, inviting the viewer to consider the objects anew...and perhaps create their own narrative."
Sarah Lamb is a classically trained artist with studios in Delaware's Brandywine Valley and in Houston. She renders the minute details of ordinary objects, finding beauty in the mundane. "I'm naturally drawn to interesting textures and colors - fuzzy peaches, gooey cheeses, irridescent feathers on birds - I love anything with a reflection," says Lamb.
A self-taught artist, Roseta Santiago began her career as an exhibit and graphic designer. Today the Santa Fe artist is known for her oil paintings of Native Americans and still lifes of Southwestern objects. “I have the same fascination with still life as I do with people,” Santiago says. “I think that beauty is in imperfections, the things that aren’t so perfectly pretty. And if I do the painting with truth -- my truth -- there’s a person who will relate to that and appreciate it.”
‘Capturing Beauty: Still Lifes by Sarah Lamb and Roseta Santiago’ will be on view at the Ann Korologos Gallery July 11 through August 4.
