Seattle, Wash. (March 2, 2015) — Madshus, the world’s leading performance Nordic ski company, is excited to announce the historic performance of US Madshus athlete Caitlin Gregg at the 2015 FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun, Sweden. Gregg, who competes on Madshus skis, boots, and poles, won the bronze medal in Tuesday’s Women’s 10K Freestyle race.

“I came across the line and knew I put in a good effort," Gregg recalled afterward, "Skis were running really well so I knew if I just laid it all out there, I had a shot at a good result.”

Not only did Gregg win her first medal at a major championship, she also set a historic record of becoming one of only two U.S. women to ever medal in a distance race at a World Championships. The other U.S. woman, Jesse Diggins, won the silver medal in Tuesday’s race, finishing 5.9 seconds in front of Gregg and capping off a dominating performance by the U.S. team. Charlotte Kalla of Sweden took gold, outpacing the Americans by 41 seconds over the 10k race.

For Gregg, 34, this is her third World Championships after competing in 2007 and 2009. Her previous best was 47th in the 30K freestyle in 2009 in Liberec, Czech Republic.

"We knew we had it in us. Now that we have done it once, we will do it again," commented Gregg.
