Boston, MA [January 13, 2014] - Each year, the Massachusetts Lodging Association [MLA] honors the best and brightest individuals in the travel and tourism industries who have demonstrated a long history of excellence throughout their careers in the hospitality sector. Recently, the MLA named Jeffrey G. Saunders, President & CEO of Saunders Hotel Group, as Massachusetts' 2013 "Hotelier of the Year" at the organization’s annual Hall of Fame awards at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, where Saunders was inducted into the group’s prestigious Hall of Fame.
Saunders oversees the third generation family owned and operated hotel management company, Saunders Hotel Group, that owns several hotels throughout Massachusetts including the Lenox, the award-winning, original boutique hotel in Back Bay.
“I’m honored to receive such a notable award,” said Saunders. “To be in the presence of current and past award winners, all of whom have distinguished themselves through their long standing volunteer efforts with the Massachusetts Lodging Association, is humbling. The MLA continues to be the voice for our industry and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, in terms of legislation, advocacy, tourism promotion and so much more. I would like to personally thank MLA and the committee for this recognition.”
Paul J. Sacco, President and CEO of the MLA & MLA Education Foundation, presided over the Hall of Fame awards and said this about Jeffery Saunders’ deserving induction: “Jeff is the consummate hotelier. You think of him as a hotel owner, but in reality, he’s so much more. He’s diligent about getting his hotels involved in the community and from an operations standpoint, he’s always implementing cutting-edge programs to ensure that his hotels are operating efficiently and profitably. He also has a great pulse on what’s happening locally and nationally within our industry. He personifies the quintessential hotelier.”
