‘CINDERELLA vs. BELLE' PREMIERES ON MARCH 11, 2015
LOS ANGELES (March 4, 2015) – Sarah Michelle Gellar, best known as the title character in Joss Whedon’s smash television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and for blockbuster films Cruel Intentions and The Grudge, has announced her next role: ‘Cinderella.’ The Emmy Award-winning star will play the blonde, shoe-losing princess in the fourth installment of Whitney Avalon’s Princess Rap Battle comedy series, which features fictional female characters slinging insults at each other to hip-hop beats.
“Super fun day yesterday – I can’t wait for you guys to see it,” tweeted Gellar, who has been a fan of the Princess Rap Battles and Avalon since the first battle.
Avalon, an established commercial and sitcom actor/singer, created the series and writes, produces, and performs in each one (previously as ‘Snow White,’ ‘Leia,’ and ‘Mary Poppins’) – with co-writer/co-producer Steve Gossett behind the camera directing. The first three Princess Rap Battles, including one with Jim O’Heir (“Parks and Recreation”) as a naughty Santa Claus, have had more than 100 million views throughout the web.
“Sarah is a joy to work with,” raves Avalon, “not only obviously immensely talented but also sweet, hilarious, and ready to have fun. People are going to love seeing her rap in a ball gown!”
The “Cinderella versus Belle” installment starring Gellar will be uploaded on March 11 to http://youtube.com/whitneyavalon, which is one of YouTube’s fastest-growing independent channels with nearly 200,000 subscribers and 31 million views in less than 6 months.
Avalon and Gossett plan to continue the season of rap battles, in addition to creating more of the comedy songs and short films that also populate the channel. The duo recently signed with Paradigm for representation.
