Latino Actor ERICK CHAVARRIA Grows Big Laughs Opposite Will Ferrell in “GET HARD”

Also in Upcoming Comedy “THE DUFF” and Wrapped Roles in
Dramedy “OUR BRAND IS CRISIS” and Horror-Western “BONE TOMAHAWK”

LOS ANGELES (January 20, 2015) – Latino character actor ERICK CHAVARRIA cleans-up as Cecelio, the smart-ass, borderline racist head gardener for Will Ferrell, in the highly-anticipated comedy, GET HARD.

Set to release nationwide on March 27th, GET HARD unfolds as millionaire James King (Ferrell) is nailed for fraud and bound for San Quentin and turns to Darnell Lewis (Kevin Hart) to prep him for prison. The film was directed by Etan Cohen and produced by Ferrell and Adam McKay through their Gary Sanchez Productions shingle with Warner Bros. Pictures distributing.

Hitting theaters on February 20th, Chavarria heads to high school as Spanish teacher Senior Gomez in the comedy feature, THE DUFF. Directed by Ari Sandel, Chavarria appears in the film alongside Mae Whitman, Bella Thorne and Ken Jeong.

Chavarria also recently wrapped roles on two more feature films: OUR BRAND IS CRISIS starring Sandra Bullock and produced by George Clooney’s Smokehouse Pictures; and the horror-western BONE TOMAHAWK, in which he appears opposite Kurt Russell, Richard Jenkins, Matthew Fox and Patrick Wilson.

Chavarria is thrilled by the opportunities that have been coming his way, explaining “It’s a dream come true to be working with such comedic geniuses as Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. Another surreal experience was on ‘Bone Tomahawk’ where I got to work with two of my all-time favorite actors, Richard Jenkins and Kurt Russell. Then, to be directed by David Gordon Green and Ari Sandel -- thank you, God…and keep them coming!”

Born and raised in Guatemala, Chavarria has become known for his oddball sense of humor and priceless facial expressions. He gained legions of fans and industry attention for playing Casper, the half-brother to the infamous Kenny Powers, Danny McBride’s character, on the critically acclaimed HBO comedy, “Eastbound & Down.” Some of his other credits include “Benched,” “The Bridge,” “ER,” “General Hospital,” “Southland” and the Cameron Crowe family film, “We Bought a Zoo,” among others. Before making his way to Hollywood, Chavarria earned a Bachelors’ in Fine Arts degree in theater performance from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).

Erick Chavarria is represented by Central Artists (Los Angeles), Alexander White Agency (Atlanta & New Orleans) and Manager Brandon Guzmán.
