Immigration Attorney Debuts First Fictional Novel ‘The Immigration Lawyer-Asylum’ on Amazon

(Newark, California) –March 18th , 2014– Inspired by a true story, lawyer turned author Shah Peerally writes a revolutionary tale about a man from Iraq who is a suspected terrorist and wrongfully held by the Department of Homeland Security inside the United States – with a mix of romance, suspense, comedy and drama.

In the wake of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, hundreds of innocent individuals were arrested without being charged, some even detailed without any hope of free to this very day. While most of those arrested were never convicted, their greatest vulnerability had been targeted—their status as immigrants. These individuals were stuck with the vulnerable tag of being “outsiders”. The book brings these issues to the forefront, based on a true story; ‘The Immigration Lawyer-Asylum’ brings attention to issues for readers who have a passion for justice.

The novel is centered on an immigration lawyer who handles the case and describes the entire immigration process to obtain the refugees´ freedom. This 74-page book goes in great depth on filing immigration petitions such as asylum and marriage petitions. Currently, the book is available in eBook, paperback, or audible format on Amazon.com, with prices starting at just $2.99.

Peerally provides a noteworthy statement on his ‘from the author’ section on Amazon, stating “As an Immigration lawyer, I have seen things done differently for different immigrants, especially when they originate from the Middle East and South Asia.  Although I understand the fear of the United States nationals, including my own fear, against people who want to harm the country, I still do not understand the discrimination towards the innocents. The Book ‘The Immigration Lawyer-Asylum’ was written in this perspective based on my personal experience with the system.”

Shah’s goal of the book was to enable readers an in-depth look into the lives of immigrants and the stigma Muslims and Middle Easterners face when it comes to the United States legal system. It is hope that the novel will not only challenge but help change mindsets.

R. Coker, who gave the book 5-star review on Amazon.com states, “Shah Peerally provides a uniquely compelling look into the immigration progress and the atmosphere for immigrants, drawing the reader in and helping them to see through different eyes of the struggles that immigrants face. It’s well-written, vivid in detail, emotionally captivating and uses strong dialogue and narration to bring the subject of immigration into focus.”

Jack Magnus from Readers’ Favorites also gives the book a 5 Stars: “…I am so impressed by The Immigration Lawyer. This legal thriller by Shah Peerally is entertaining and highly inspirational — and not only for young adults. I’d recommend it for anyone who wants to make a difference, especially law students and young lawyers who aren’t quite sure about their career plans. Peerally sets out the procedural steps by which Sarah helps Ahmad simply and eloquently, and he makes accessible what has always seemed to me to be a very complicated branch of law. ‘The Immigration Lawyer’ also explores the all-too-real plight of immigrants in the U.S. after the 9/11 attacks who have been the victims of hate-crimes, and it does all this in an entertaining graphic novel format. The Immigration Lawyer is remarkable and a definite must-read.

Released on February 7, 2014, under his own publishing company, Peerally’s book is already popular among readers. With a perfect 5-star rating, ‘The Immigration Lawyer-Asylum’ is currently ranked number 20 on the ‘Eastern Fictional Drama’ section Amazon.com
