“Tools 4 Schools is a great program because the leaders of our communities meet with the future leaders of tomorrow. We offer a hand up to families in need with respect and dignity at the forefront of our efforts. Thanks to our generous sponsors, young ones can obtain the right tools that will lend to their successful careers as students,” said AP Powell.
The event officially kicks off at 7am and it’s located at Travis L. Williams American Legion Post 65. The official address is 1624 E. Broadway Road. Phoenix, Arizona 85040. The supplies, breakfast and haircuts are available upon a first come, first serve basis only.
Phoenix currently has the fastest growing homeless population in the country. In fact, 30% of the homeless population are families- primarily made up of a single mother and two (or more) children. In addition, 45% of all children in the Phoenix school district are considered impoverished, which makes the necessities, like haircuts and school supplies, often out of reach. The Checkered Flag Run Foundation advocates for Phoenix’s “in need” demographic through partnerships and events, such as Tools 4 Schools, with the end goal to make a difference today by investing in the leaders of tomorrow.
The mission of Checkered Flag Run is to provide diverse educational programs that impact under-served students. Our belief is access to quality educational opportunities ensures the investment of every student getting to cross the “finish line”. Additional partners for Tools 4 Schools are always appreciated.
