Westport Café and Bar launches new menus with more than 20 additions created by Co-Owner and Executive Chef Romain Monnoyeur

French-inspired bistro introduces new dinner / brunch menu items and brunch cocktails; revamps happy hour menu and expands wine list

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Aug. 1, 2016) – Four months after announcing new French co-owners General Manager Kevin Mouhot and Executive Chef Romain Monnoyeur, Westport Café and Bar is launching six new and updated menus featuring more than 20 additions, new brunch cocktails, a revamped happy hour menu and expanded wine list. The new menus, created by Executive Chef Romain Monnoyeur, include completely new dishes, as well as subtle changes to some existing favorites.

New Menu Items

Known for its French-inspired cuisine, Westport Café’s new menus combine Monnoyeur’s extensive background in classic French cuisine with Chef Co-Owner Aaron Confessori’s knowledge of local guest preferences. All new menu items are available now as follows:

Hors D'Oeuvres:

Cold Cucumber Soup with Goat Cheese and Mint

Torchon of Foie Gras (bell peppers, chorizo, raisin, Thai chili)

Escargot (bacon, mushroom, black pepper, panko)

Steak Tartare with Pickled Carrots and Tomato

Crab & Shrimp Galette:

Blue Crab, Texas Shrimp, Arugula, Horseradish, Lime

De La Mer:

Chilled Blue Point Oysters (chili oil, kaffir lime, citrus, fresno)

Grilled Blue Point Oysters (black pepper, parsley)

Texas Shrimp Flambee (pastis, bisque, mint, fresno)

P.E.I. mussels with Coconut Curry, Bell Pepper and Cilantro

Salmon Gravlax (hummus, kaffir lime, pickled onion, citrus vinaigrette)

Entrées:

Gulf Snapper (sauce vierge, gem lettuce)

Faroe Island Salmon (miso, arugula, bisque, snap peas)

Grilled Chicken Thighs (cherry pepper crème, tomato, mushroom)

Duck Breast (carrot & orange puree, sauce bordelaise)

Braised Beef (pommes puree, bacon, celery, sauce bordelaise)

Les Pates:

Fettuccini with Squid Ink (shrimp, crab, tomato)

Salades et Sanwiches:

Salad Nicoise (albacore, arugula, kale, egg, tomato, anchovy)

Grilled Albacore Sandwich (tomato, tapenade, hard egg, basil oil)

Desserts:

Banana Pot de Crème

Chocolate Mousse with accompaniments

Brunch Entrees:

Sliced Steak and Egg (pomme galette, sauce vierge, fried egg) 

New Brunch Cocktails

Developed by longtime bartender Bronson Kistler, the four new brunch cocktails utilize fresh ingredients combined with seasonal herbs and spices, as well as interesting craft spirits and house-made syrups. The cocktails, which join existing staples like the WCB bloody mary and Pink Peppercorn, are available now as follows:

Breakfast Daiquiri (white rum, lime, orange, sugar, vanilla)

Paloma (blanco tequila, lime, grapefruit soda, salt)

WCB Milk Punch (cognac, demerara, banana milk, grated nutmeg)

Americano (Campari, Dolin Rouge, soda)
