Springfield, MO- School bells will ring and parents will sing! Back-to-school season is upon us and two local moms are helping families gear up for the new school year and the fall season at a fraction of retail prices. Just Between Friends of Springfield is set for August 26th – 29th at Remington’s.
Back-to-School shopping is the nation’s second largest shopping event of the year, second only to Christmas. The National Retail Federation reports that the economy is still top of mind for families, especially when it comes to making sure their children have what they need for the school year. At JBF, families can find all they need at 50% – 90% off retail prices, while helping other families make extra money.
Families will find everything they need to raise a family, from maternity to teen. Bargains range from clothing and accessories, toys, baby gear, game systems and electronics, books and much more.
JBF Springfield helps families “turn clutter into cash” as a consignor. Families price and tag their own items and JBF does the rest of the work handling the sales. Consignors earn 60% of their sales and 70% if they volunteer during the event.

JBF of Springfield is offering a special program to help families or organizations that have Graco Alano, Passage or Spree strollers and/or travel systems that were recalled in 2010. Graco recalled the models due to fingertip amputation and lacerations hazards; however, Graco is no longer manufacturing the repair kit for these strollers. Families can bring the recalled strollers to the JBF Springfield event and will receive a $25.00 gift card to shop at the JBF event. JBF will return the stroller to Graco and it will be destroyed. For details on the recalled models: http://1.usa.gov/1vqT2XE.
A study by Kids in Danger found that only 10 percent of recalled children’s items are repaired or returned. Read the study here: http://b15it.ly/1FudJSG
Annette Maskrod and Stephanie House organize and run the JBF event three times a year and are available for interviews before and during the event. They are thrilled to help their community save and earn money. JBF Springfield charity partners include Victory Mission, Cox Foundation and Cuddly Critters.
About Just Between Friends
In 1997, Just Between Friends was created in a living room in Tulsa, Oklahoma when Shannon Wilburn, a mother of two young children, and her friend Daven Tackett hosted a sale with 17 friends as consignors and had gross sales of $2000. In 2013, that same sale hosted two events and grossed more than 1.2M. The sales caught on with families and grew, so in 2003, they formed Just Between Friends Franchise Systems, Inc. Wilburn is now sole owner of Just Between Friends Franchise Systems, Inc., which has 141 franchises in 28 states and one in Canada. Gross sales in 2013 topped 24 million dollars and they expect to top 29 million in 2014. Just Between Friends has been on the Inc. Magazine 5000 list of fastest growing companies the past four years and was named one of Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top 500 Franchises in 2012 and 2013. In 2012, Just Between Friends was one of only 75 companies to receive the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Blue Ribbon Award. Just Between Friends Franchise Systems Inc. also received a “Franchisee Satisfaction Award” and was named in the Top 50 franchises by “Franchise Business Review” for the past 6 years. Wilburn was also named the Small Business Administration’s “Women in Business Champion” for Tulsa and was part of the Tulsa Business Journal’s 40 under 40. JBF has been featured on numerous national television shows including CBS Early Show, ABC News, Good Morning America, CNN, Headline News, Fox News, Inside Edition and CNBC’s The Big Idea.
