Expedition Yellowstone

Expedition Yellowstone
Founded by Fremont County School District #1

How does Expedition Yellowstone serve Lander? Expedition Yellowstone is the annual Lander Middle School 6th grade Yellowstone National Park trip. Students, teachers, and parents consider Expedition Yellowstone a hallmark of the middle school experience. The memorable trip offers students a rich learning opportunity outside of their traditional classrooms, bringing them directly in touch with the Yellowstone ecosystem. From ranger talks, to wildlife sightings, to the ability to interact with new classmates, this trip accomplishes more than its mere three days suggest.

How will your Challenge for Charities donation to Expedition Yellowstone make a difference in Lander this year? The 6th grade educational team’s mission is to educate all students academically, emotionally and physically in a nurturing and challenging environment to prepare them for a successful future. Expedition Yellowstone is a unique opportunity to foster these objectives. The expedition’s continued existence relies exclusively on $15,000-$20,000 in fundraised donations. 2014 Challenge for Charities funds will go directly towards the Expedition Yellowstone expenses.

How else can you help Expedition Yellowstone? There are many volunteer opportunities to help support the Lander Middle School students.  Some options include:  classroom volunteers, speakers bureau, chaperones, timing at sports activities, community input for school improvement, curriculum and student/staff recognition committees.

What else? In addition to providing education for 6th – 8th graders, the Lander Middle School is a LEED Gold Facility that is used extensively by Lander Parks and Recreation for community activities and organizations that benefit Lander locals of all ages.
