The Conservation Alliance Releases {worthWILD} Los Padres Film, Wilderness = Jobs

Bend, Ore. (January 14, 2014) — The Conservation Alliance has released {worthWILD} Los Padres, the seventh film in the worthWILD series. The film tells the story of Los Padres ForestWatch’s campaign to secure permanent protection for more than 200,000 acres of wildlands and 124 miles of free-flowing rivers in California’s Los Padres National Forest. The film also illustrates how the protection of this Wilderness will benefit businesses and the local economy in the surrounding area.

The Conservation Alliance has twice funded the Los Padres Wilderness Campaign and has worked closely with local member companies, including Horny Toad, Teva and Patagonia to demonstrate the benefits that protected public lands offer to business and the economy.

“The outdoor industry has a huge stake in this project, and The Conservation Alliance is key to harnessing its collective power,” said Jeff Kuyper, Executive Director of Los Padres ForestWatch.

“Protecting public land serves as a magnet for businesses and qualified employees,” said Lisa Myers of Patagonia. “If you can protect an area that is such an amazing resource for so many people and a community, then that is a place worth protecting.“

Produced by Alexandria Bombach’s Red Reel Video, {worthWILD} Los Padres is the seventh documentary The Conservation Alliance has produced as part of the worthWild series, which the organization launched in 2012.
