SAN ANTONIO – Mar. 3, 2015 – Known for delivering fresh, made-to-order burgers and exceptional service since 1950, Whataburger is expanding into Northwest Arkansas with its first restaurant scheduled to open this summer. The family owned and operated company with more than 770 locations will begin serving the Fayetteville community its famous burgers made with 100 percent pure beef and fresh-cut vegetables, along with its popular French fries, onion rings, chicken strips, breakfast items, shakes and more.

The first location at MLK Boulevard and South Sang Road is set to break ground this month and anticipates a three- to six- month construction timeframe, which is subject to change based on a number of external factors, such as weather and permitting.

“We’re eager to join the Northwest Arkansas community and serve our customers 24 hours a day, 364 days a year,” said Rob Rodriguez, Whataburger senior vice president of restaurant operations. “We’ve had our eye on this part of the country for some time, and believe the region’s significant growth is a natural extension of our service area, which stretches across 10 states from Arizona to Texas to Florida.”

For nearly 65 years, Whataburger has been known for offering the highest quality products and investing in the communities it serves. In 2014 Whataburger was ranked seventh in the QSR Magazine’s list of top 50 burgers, and fifth in the top fast food restaurant category for Consumer Reports. Whataburger also has a very loyal fan base, and here’s what some of its more than two million social media fans have to say about Whataburger (content provided directly from Whataburger’s Facebook and Twitter pages):

The company will hire for a variety of positions ranging from team member to management level. Whataburger has focused on its fresh, made-to-order burgers and friendly customer service since 1950 when Harmon Dobson opened the first Whataburger as a small roadside burger stand in Corpus Christi, Texas. Dobson gave his restaurant a name he hoped to hear customers say every time they took a bite of his made-to-order burgers: “What a burger!” Within the first week, people lined up around the block for his 25 cent, 100 percent beef burgers served on five-inch buns. Today, the company is headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 770 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $1 billion annually. Visit for more information on the company or become a fan on Facebook and Twitter.
