Powell Councilman stepping down Monday

Monday night will be Powell City Councilman Josh Shorb's final meeting as an elected official. His resignation is on Monday's agenda for formal approval. In a brief interview Friday morning, Shorb told Reboot that after years of work and planning, he and his family have built a home outside of city limits and will be moving there full time. He said they bought the property seven years ago, saved money and have finally built their home. He said the move was a "long-time coming" and an important step for his family. But moving out of city limits means he can no longer serve on the city council, and Shorb said he wishes he didn't have to step down. "I regret that I have to resign my position as I very much enjoy serving on the council and representing the citizens of Powell to the best of my ability," he wrote in his resignation letter to the rest of the council. This is actually Shorb's second resignation from the council. He was first elected in 2006 and served until 2009 when he moved across town to a different ward. He was elected to his current seat in Ward III in 2012. "I just want to give a sincere thank you to the people who voted for me," he said, calling it an honor to have served the town. Following Monday's meeting, the process for the remaining council to appoint a replacement will begin. #reboot
