Shoshone National Forest Christmas tree permits available

(Cody, Wyo.) – Christmas tree permits are now available from the Shoshone National Forest. The cost for a permit is $8.00 for a tree up to 20 feet tall. If you wish to cut a larger tree, additional permits are required. Permits are available at Shoshone National Forest district offices in Cody, Dubois, and Lander. These offices are open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday (except federal holidays). The district office in Cody will be unable to sell permits December 2nd and 3rd. Permits will also be available for purchase at the following local businesses: · Good 2 Go Store #2, Cody · Good 2 Go Store #3, Cody · Good 2 Go Store #4, Cody · The Red Barn, North Fork Highway · One Stop Motorsports, Powell · Good 2 Go Store #5, Ralston · Wea Market, Meeteetse · Wind River Gear, Dubois · Pit Stop, Dubois · Popo Agie One Stop, Lander · All three Pit Stops in Riverton This year there is also an opportunity for the "Every Kid in a Park" initiative. Fourth grade students are eligible for one free Christmas tree permit with a valid paper or durable "Every Kid in a Park" pass. The tree permit is good for trees under 12 feet in height, and the fourth grader must be present at the time the permit is issued.
