"Buzz in" safety feature adds extra level of security at three Cody schools

(Cody, Wyo.) - As of today, Monday, November 30, visitors entering Eastside Elementary, Cody Middle School and Cody High School can expect to be "buzzed in" in order to enter the school. Visitors should enter through the front doors, push the intercom button, and then front office staff will speak with you and buzz you in through the interior doors. "So far so good," said Cody Middle School Principal Tim Foley. "Of course any change takes a little getting used to, but most families who came through this morning already knew about the new system. There really weren't any surprises." Foley added that the staff will be fine-tuning the process throughout the next couple of weeks to make it run as smoothly as possible. Last year, the Wyoming Department of Education checked all of the schools across Wyoming, and recommended that each building have one single point of entry. "This is an added layer of security for our schools," said Foley. "Hopefully this will result in safer schools in Cody."
