Prevent Theft of Christmas Gifts

The Cody Police Department wants citizens to know that the average number of thefts, burglaries, and vehicle specific burglaries increase this time of year. They recommend some of the following tips for preventing property crime this season: Vehicle Related Tips: - If you have a vehicle alarm, use it. - Always roll up your windows and lock your doors. - Keep gifts and other valuables out of sight; put items in your trunk. - Don't leave money, checkbooks, prescription medication, or credit cards in your vehicle. Home Related Tips: - Keep all personal information (passports, financial statements, etc.) in a locked, fire proof sage or a safety deposit box. - Store ladders, tools and any other outside objects that can be used to assist in home entry in a locked shed or garage. - Keep garage doors closed and locked. If the garage doors have windows, put the garage door release cord away from those windows. - Be cautious when talking about vacation plans in public areas or on social media; criminals may be listening to see when people plan to be away. #reboot #news
