Sexual Assault Suspect Swanson Arraigned

(Cody, Wyoming) - Ryan Curtis Swanson, who was arrested by the Cody Police Department on charges that he committed 5 counts of sexual abuse on a minor was arraigned in District Court today. Swanson was advised of the charges and penalties he was facing. He plead not guilty to all charges before District court Judge Steven Cranfill. The five counts of sexual abuse on a minor each carry penalties of up to 15 years imprisonment and a possible fine of up to $10,000. Also discussed in the proceedings were bond issues related to Swanson's ability to find work in Park County. Swanson is currently free on bind and is limited to travel within the confines of Park County. Swanson's attorney asked the court to grant rights of travel beyond the limits of Park County but within the state of Wyoming. Swanson's lawyer argued that as a result of the charges Swanson was fired from his jobs and that due to the publicity surrounding the case finding work in Park County has been impossible. Swanson's attorney asked that he be granted the ability to travel within Wyoming to find work, and that he also be allowed to travel so as to visit family within the state. The prosecutor for the state stated that the state would not be opposed to this amendment if certain stipulations were met and discussed between the opposing counsels. The state also sought to amend the bond, stipulating that they would like to add the Cody High School campus to the list of Swanson's restrictions. This motion was granted by Judge Cranfill. Due to the nature of this crime any information that could lead to the identification of the victim will not be reported in accordance with state law. All persons arrested are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law. #reboot #news
