Shoshone National Forest plans prescribed fire projects north of Cody

(Cody, Wyo)The Shoshone National Forest is preparing to implement prescribed fire projects north of Cody as weather and fuel conditions allow this spring. The following prescribed fire projects are planned: 100 to 700 acres near the junction of State Highway 296 and US Highway 212 to enhance wildlife habitat, promote aspen regeneration, and reduce hazardous fuels. 150 to 500 acres near Bald Ridge and Dead Indian Pass adjacent to State Highway 296 to reduce hazardous fuels and enhance wildlife habitat. Signs will be posted in all areas, and adjacent land owners will be notified prior to beginning prescribed fire projects.
