Fremont Motor Powell rewards students accomplishments

*(Powell, Wyo.) -* The Powell Robotics Club has invested more than 135 hours in the regular season after school practicing, designing, and building their robots. Fremont Motor Company in Powell has invested $500 towards them achieving great things. Fremont Motors saw the value of the hard work and dedication that that the students of PHS have shown in their robotics program. They showed that admiration by inviting the PHS robotics team to give them a demonstration of their mechanical robot. The entire dealership was present as the students explained the workings of the device, and explained how each piece fit into the competition aspect of Robotics. The students then fielded questions from the staff and told the group about the challenges they face as a small program. Many Robotics clubs in the nation have resources that a small program like PHS can't muster including design and fabrication experts who aid the team in building their creations. Mike Hobbs of Fremont expressed admiration for the pluck and ingenuity of the group, "You guys have to compete against huge resources, it's amazing what you've come up with" When asked by Basin Reboot what the $500 donation means to the team they stated that it was going to help pay for the team to travel to Oakland to compete in the Super Regional tournament. One of the students stated the donation will "Help us go compete and lets us represent Wyoming and Montana" at the tournament. The Powell Robotics Club has won both the Wyoming State Robotics Tournament and the Montana State Robotics Tournament. In Montana, they competed against 40 teams from Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. Powell students’ hard work and dedication allowed them to best 40 teams in Montana including the Helena team that finished 2nd in the world competition last year The team will be traveling to the FIRST Western Super Regional competition in Oakland CA March 23-27 that brings together the top 72 teams in 12 Western States. 1/3 of the teams from Super Regionals will qualify for the World Robotics Competition in St. Louis a goal that the team is hoping to accomplish. Thanks to Fremont Motor Company they are one step closer. Fremont Motor Powell , 1000 US Highway 14A, Powell, WY 307-271-3040 www.fremontmotors.com #fremontmotors #sponsored #news #reboot
