City of Cody and Shoshone River Farm partner around Green Waste

City of Cody and Shoshone River Farm partner around Green Waste

(Cody, Wyo.) - Steve Payne, City of Cody Public Works Director and Scott Richard the grower for Shoshone River Farm signed an agreement this past Thursday for all of Cody’s green waste to be delivered to Shoshone River Farm. This will save the City of Cody the cost of green waste going to the Park County Landfill, which costs $50 per ton, and will provide Shoshone River Farm with tons of material to compost. "This is a win win for both parties," Payne told Reboot this morning. "We're excited about this partnership." Payne explained the program will launch May 1st and is available to everyone within the City of Cody who currently has roll-outs. Green Waste should be disposed of in the correct blue, labeled bins. The City is also working with local schools to collect and donate their green waste to SRF. Payne reminds participants to "be careful of what you put on your lawns." Shoshone River Farm said on their facebook page: "It will be a big job and should provide the farm will lots of compostable material." SRF added that they're looking for a good BobCat skidsteer or similar heavy equipment for moving lots of compost. To learn more about the program, you can contact Scott at Shoshone River Farms via facebook , email or 899-6316.
