But a new study shows that wearing earplugs during a concert can prevent that temporary hearing loss. This is great news, since hearing loss is on the rise. The U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey found that the number of adolescents with hearing loss has jumped by more than 30 percent since 1988.
