Meeteetse rallies around student injured at track meet

(Meeteetse, Wyo.) - Basin Reboot spoke with Meeteetse School Superintendent Jay Curtis this morning about last night's accident at the high school track meet in Meeteetse. Curtis said the middle school student is in stable condition. At this time the student is "sedated and being monitored for swelling." The student was a worker at last night's track meet, and while shaggong shot puts, he was accidentally struck in the head with a shot put. The student was life flighted to Billings. "The community of Meeteetse is like a family, and we're supporting one of our family members," Curtis said. Within the district, a collection has been started to assist the family with room and board while they stay in Billings. No official fundraisers have been set up at this time. Curtis explained, "We're taking a little bit of time to think through the fundraising strategy so we can have the maximum effectiveness for the family." He continued, "At this time we're asking for prayers and faith for the student and family." Basin Reboot will update information about fundraising efforts as soon as we learn more. #reboot #springcity #news
