Updated construction timeline for 8th St. and Sheridan Avenue

(Cody, Wyo.) - Weather delays asphalt milling to next week on U.S. 14/16/20 project in Cody A $1.95 million highway improvement project in Cody is scheduled to enter the asphalt milling and paving stage Monday, May 23, following rain this week on the project between 10th Street and Cody Labs on U.S. 14/16/20, which includes 8th Street and Sheridan Avenue. "Concrete work is nearly complete. Spring rains slowed progress this week," said Wyoming Department of Transportation resident engineer Todd Frost of Cody. "Milling is scheduled to begin on the west end of the project Monday. By contract, the contractor is required to start paving operations within two working days after milling has been completed." Frost said paving should begin about May 27, the day before the start of Memorial Day weekend. Frost said motorists should expect work on one-half of the highway during milling and paving operations, while two-way traffic is carried on the other half of the highway. Flagging will be used at major intersections, and around the asphalt mill and paving operation as needed. Working hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The street and sidewalk improvements are happening between milepost 50.64 (Cody Labs) and milepost 51.78 (10th Street) in Cody. By contract, the project must be complete by June 15, including all seeding and clean up of the project work area. Project scope of work includes pavement rehabilitation, including asphalt milling and re-paving of three inches of asphalt pavement and asphalt wearing course; Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades; replacement of broken curb and gutter, double gutter and sidewalk; and replacement of a traffic signal pole at the southwest corner of the 8th Street/Beck Avenue intersection at the entrance to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. *Feature photo: Concrete work is nearly complete, except for some minor work near the entrance to the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody.
