Powell native is adding a little color to the local salon scene

(Powell, Wyo.) - When Powell native Tabitha Metzler was 16, all she wanted to do was move to the big city. And she did. She was accepted to Cosmetology School in Phoenix, Arizona and moved there right after high school when she was 17. While she realized that she is a small town girl at heart, that big city experience is what led her to start her own business, The Getaway Salon and Day Spa, right here in Powell. Since graduating from Cosmetology School 11 years ago, she has worked at several different salons in the area. She is also involved with salon goliath Paul Mitchell and began entering competitions. Just recently, she was in a Paul Mitchel color competition and was named a national runner up. After spending time in salons and spas Phoenix, as well as her uncle's large salon in Baton Rouge, she began to notice that her hometown was missing something. Now, with years of experience under her belt, she is opening an all-inclusive salon and spa in downtown Powell. "I decided that the Powell and Cody area deserves a big time salon," said Metzler. "It has been my dream to open something big around here. I have been doing hair for 11 years, so it took me 11 years to get to that point, but I decided to finally do it." Next Friday, Metzler will open the doors for a fully equipped Paul mitchell salon in downtown Powell. The 3,600 square foot space will have eight stylist stations, three people who do nails, two pedicure thrones, a message therapist, and a licensed esthetician who does everything including facials, microdermabrasion, spray tans, full body waxing and more. The Getaway Salon and Day Spa will have a grand opening on Friday, June 24 from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. at 250 N Bent in Powell. There will be a ribbon cutting at noon and then there will be an open house for the rest of the day. "I strive to be an inspiration leader for my salon not a boss," said Metzler. "I also believe that education is key. I continue education at least twice a year and am hitting up two huge shows in August and September." Metzler would like to thank Metzler Construction, Sanders Plumbing and Heating and Bar T Electric for helping her get this all-inclusive day spa built in Powell. *Feature Photo: h/t Tabitha Metzler / Pitchengine Communities* #reboot #news
