Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution to Conduct Escape Drill

Torrington – The Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution (WMCI) with the assistance from the Goshen County Sheriff’s Office, Torrington Police Department, Torrington Ambulance and Airlink, will be conducting an escape drill on November 9, 2015. This exercise is scheduled to take place near the grounds of WMCI from approximately 5:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The exercise will simulate a real-life escape situation in order to increase the readiness of the facility in the event of an actual incident. In addition, the drill is an opportunity to develop proficient procedures to strengthen local cooperation in order to continue with enhanced public safety. The exercise will help WMCI identify potential areas for response and coordination during an emergency situation as well as potential areas of focus for improvement. The exercise will not jeopardize the safety and security of the institution or impact the surrounding community. The facility will be operating under modified services during this time. It is respectfully requested that the public not report the drill or gather to observe the proceedings as this could interfere with the objectives of the exercise.
