18 year old dies in rollover crash near Wright due to lack of seat belt use

Wyoming Highway Patrol issues the following report today: A single vehicle crash west of Wright, Wyoming on November 3rd has resulted in the death of 18 year old Colorado Springs, Colorado resident Megan E. Skinner. The crash is believed to have occurred around 10:00 p.m. on November 3rd on Wyoming State Highway 387 at mile post 138 approximately 14 miles west of Wright. The crash was not discovered until the early morning hours on November 4th around 6:45 a.m. Skinner was driving a 1999 Toyota Tacoma westbound on WY 387 when the truck left the highway to the north. The Toyota entered a spin in the ditch, tripped and rolled three times down an embankment. Skinner and her passenger, 20 year old Casper, Wyoming resident Autumn Horneck, were both ejected during the crash as they were not wearing their seat belts. Skinner sustained fatal injuries on scene. Horneck was transported by helicopter ambulance to Swedish Medical Center in Denver, Colorado and has been hospitalized. Speed and weather conditions are being investigated as contributing factors in this crash. Megan Skinner is projected to be the 124th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2015. There were 129 fatalities during this same time period in 2014. This crash is still under further investigation. #shortgo
