Sheriff: 8-year-old killed in sledding accident

The Albany County Sheriff's Office this morning reported that an 8-year-old boy was killed on Monday in a sledding accident at the Old Happy Jack Ski area located near Highway 210 east of Laramie. At approximately 11:15 a.m., deputies were called to that location for a report of a young boy who had been sledding in the area and had accidentally hit a tree, causing severe head trauma, Undersheriff Robert J. DeBree said. The first deputy to arrive assisted a citizen in performing CPR until until the Laramie Fire Department ambulance arrived. A helicopter arrived and immediately transported the boy to Ivinson Memorial Hospital. However, the boy was pronounced dead upon arrival. "The investigation is ongoing, and the name of the boy will not be released at this time pending notification of family," DeBree said. "The Albany County Sheriff's Office would like to advise recreationists to utilize extreme caution in the area while sledding." #shortgo #news
