Cheyenne Firefighters report record numbers of emergency calls for 2015

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - Cheyenne Fire and Rescue reported record numbers for their 2015 year-end operations. Cheyenne Fire and Rescue received close to 9,100 emergency calls across the five fire stations in the city of Cheyenne, nearly 1,000 more calls than reported for 2014. ​*Cheyenne Firefighters respond to a house fire in Cheyenne. (Pitchengine Communities)* International Association of Fire Fighters Local 279 raised more money than ever recorded for local charities. “We haven’t calculated it out to the nearest dollar yet, but Local 279 raised, or helped to raise, more than $65,000 that went right back into local organizations,” Derek Pollnow, spokesperson and Public Relations Chairman for the Cheyenne Firefighters, stated. “If the amount of calls we ran while on duty weren’t more than enough, our members stepped up to give back to our community that supports us, more than ever.” ​ *Cheyenne Firefighters honor 9/11 World Trade Center piece traveling along I-80 in Cheyenne October 2015.
