More phone scams being reported by Laramie County Sheriff's Office

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - According to Laramie Counrt Sheriff's Office, local residents have been receiving more phone scams from sketchy callers. Laramie County Sheriff's Office: A local resident received two calls from 876-524-2497, Kingston Jamaica on Jan. 13. The caller left two messages indicating that the resident was awaiting delivery of a package containing a certified check and keys to a new automobile. The man said his name was Peter, stating that he worked in the Claims Department but would not say the company name. The suspect asked the resident to verify his home address. The resident suspected a scam and hung up. On Jan. 14, 2016, a local resident received a call from 307-529-0256. The caller said that his name was Mr. John and that he was from the American Sweepstakes Company out of Washington D.C. He told the resident that she had won $1 million and all she had to do to claim her prize was to send him $300 by Western Union. "Scammers are out there and they have many convincing ways to steal your hard earned money. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is.
