Three new wells on Wyoming Guard base in Cheyenne to monitor ground water quality

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - At least three wells are to be drilled on the Wyoming Air National Guard base over the next week to provide long-term monitoring of ground water in the area. New monitoring wells are drilled throughout the base to capture residual solvents in old hangars due to the operation and maintenance of aircraft throughout the years. This will also provide a method of monitoring of ground water quality for possible contamination. “The actual project serves not only the installation, but also the surrounding community,” said Maj. Matt Sturtevant, deputy base civil engineer. “There is no risk to the home any longer as the mitigation efforts have been successful and by use of the monitoring wells we ensure that risk remains non-existent.” *Feature photo: Hannah Charisma/Pitchengine Communities* #shortgo #news
