Police Officers receive Crisis Intervention Team Training in Cheyenne

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - The Cheyenne Police Department, in partnership with Cheyenne Regional Behavioral Health Services and Peak Wellness, is hosting a 40-hour Crisis Intervention Team training for first responders, Jan. 25-29. The Crisis Intervention Team training program will be educating first responders, so they're able to better serve the needs of individuals experiencing mental health crises. Training will include in-depth discussions of the various types of mental health issues, including mood and thought disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, suicide, and mental disabilities, while also teaching techniques for responders including communication and de-escalation skills. Crisis Intervention Team programs encourage partnerships between law enforcement and community agencies, including CRMC BHS, Peak Wellness, and National Alliance for Mental Illness. #shortgo #news #whatshappening
