"I think it's only going to get worse." Wyoming Highway Patrol assist with Interstate crashes

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - Several crashes along Interstate 25 and winter conditions have caused many road closures throughout the day, Feb. 3. Pitchengine Communities spoke with Sgt. Wagener with the Wyoming Highway Patrol about those crashes in which he began with saying, "the wind is blowing pretty hard [along I-25] pushing snow across the road and creating a thick black ice." Both passenger vehicles and commercial trucks with a lighter trailer have been involved in the majority of these crashes, which result from the wind and black ice combination, causing the trailers to jackknife, Sgt. Wagener stated. Sgt. Wagener spoke with us just after assisting with traffic control at the I80/I25 junction, "North of Cheyenne up through Chugwater along I-25 the wind is really blowing," he said. "And I think it's only going to get worse." Be sure to check road conditions and travel advisories before hitting the trails today. Stay safe out there, Wyoming! *Feature photo: Jackknifed semi on I-25 north of Cheyenne h/t photo: Amber Shearer/Pitchengine Communities * #shortgo #news #breaking #wydot
