Male suspect found deceased in motel room; no hostage or explosives found by SWAT Team

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - On Feb. 5, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Laramie County Sheriff's Department Deputies responded to gun shots fired at the Round Up Motel, 403 S. Greeley Hwy. Deputies were responding to the motel based on information received from the Wesrminster Police Department in Colorado, as they were attempting to locate a suspect in the disappearance of a Westminster, Colo. resident. The individual was also wanted on a warrant for Pawn Violation. Wheat Ridge Police Department was also pursuing a warrant for this individual for attempted murder. The individual in question was alleged to be in a stolen black 2007 Nissan Frontier. The subject then barricaded himself inside the motel room as Cheyenne Police Department/Laramie County Sheriff's Department combined SWAT Team responded along with the Crisis Negotiations Unit. CNU team was able to establish contact with the male inside the motel room. The male alleged he had a female hostage and explosives in the room, and telling law enforcement the female was duct taped and being held in the bathroom. He also threatened to blow up the motel room he was in, as negotiations continued for several hours. However, the male refused to come out of the room. Just after 2:30 a.m., Feb. 6, the male cut off all communication and would no longer accept calls from the negotiator. Tear gas was deployed into the motel room as SWAT teams entered the room and the male was found deceased from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound. The male was alone in the room, no female was inside, and no explosives were found inside the motel room. ​ Once the scene was rendered safe, the investigation was turned over to the Department of Criminal Investigations. The name of the deceased male will be withheld pending notification of family members. No gunshots were fired by law enforcement at any time. #shortgo #news #breaking
