Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association announces support of Medicaid Expansion

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - The Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association announced Friday, Feb. 5, it has voted to support expansion of Medicaid and join the Healthy Wyoming coalition. “Wyoming is experiencing a significant economic downturn and we have an opportunity to return Wyoming tax payer dollars to our state,” said Chris Brown, WRLA Executive Director. As Wyoming faces an estimated $217 million budget shortfall, Medicaid Expansion will bring an estimated $268 million tax dollars to Wyoming over a two-year period. “Medicaid expansion would cut over $30 million from the state’s biennium budget, provide insurance to nearly 20,000 uninsured residents, and provide desperately needed funding to our hospitals,” continued Brown. “The Wyoming Lodging and Restaurant Association stands in support of expanding Medicaid.” Healthy Wyoming is a group of community and business leaders, doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers working for quality, affordable healthcare for all Wyoming. *Feature photo: WLRA/Pitchengine Communities* #shortgo #news
