(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - In the wake of last week’s tragedy
Cheyenne Firefighters remind residents to check and test smoke alarms on a
monthly basis and remembering to change the batteries each
“Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are critical in early detection
of serious in home emergencies...ensure that your family is protected,”
Kevin Reddy, President of the Cheyenne Firefighters advises.
Two-thirds of house fire fatalities are the result of improper, or
nonexistent, smoke alarms, according to the NFPA. Each year, more than
3,000 people die in house fires.
Reddy says residents can contact their local fire department for alarm
programs, should financial assistance be needed.
