'Know Your Well Day' is March 13

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality announced today that they have designated March 13 as "Know Your Well Day." In conjunction with the National Groundwater Association “Groundwater Awareness Week," the Water Quality Division designated the day to recognize the importance of groundwater to the citizens of the state. According to the WQD, over 72 percent of Wyoming's population relying on groundwater for drinking water supply. Groundwater quality can be impacted by waste disposal practices, spills, leaks or other activities that can render it unsuitable for use, which is why its important for private well owners to regularly inspect, maintain, and sample their wells, and to be aware of potential threats to groundwater nearby and on their property.
