Wyoming students honored at Poetry Out Loud awards ceremony

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - Following yesterday's Poetry Out Loud competition at the Historic Atlas Theatre, award winners were announced today at the Barrett Building in Cheyenne, March 8. Eight students from high schools around Wyoming participated in the state competition. Participating schools were: Kaycee High School, Western Heritage Lutheran Academy (Riverton), Sundance Secondary School, Summit High School (Jackson), Star Lane Center (Casper), Worland High School, Upton High School, and Buffalo High School. *Wyoming award winners for the 2016 Poetry Out Loud competition are: * - Lucy Martinez, State Champion - Taelor Nielsen, Runner Up - Lauren Haiar, Third Place Winner ​ Poetry Out Loud is the national recitation and memorization contest, designed specifically for students in grades 9-12 to teach and learn language arts standards through poetry.
