Fatal crash east of Cheyenne claims the life of 17-year-old girl

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - A fatal crash on Sunday, Mar. 6, has resulted in the death of Kiersten D. Larson, 17, of Carpenter, Wyoming. The crash occurred at 6 a.m. on Interstate 80, just 19 miles east of Cheyenne. Larson was driving a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on I-80 when the vehicle initially veered off the interstate to the north. Larson over-corrected the SUV to the right causing the Jeep to slide out of control across both lanes of I-80 eastbound, leaving the interstate to the south into the ditch where it tripped and rolled. Larson was ejected during the crash as she was not wearing her seat belt, where she sustained fatal injuries on scene. Contributing factors in this crash are still under investigation by Wyoming Highway Patrol. Larson marked the ninth highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016. There were 18 fatalities through March 9th in 2015. #shortgo #news
