USDA representative visits Afflerbach Elementary awarding the school's nutrition program

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - Representatives with the U.S. Department of Agriculture visited Afflerbach Elementary this morning in part with district's celebration of National School Breakfast Week, March 9. Diane Fulton, of the United States Department of Agriculture Mountain Plains Regional Office, visited to recognize the school's participation with the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program. Fulton assisted in celebrating the local children who won prize giveaways for the school's coloring contest and raffle. CEP is a provision from the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 that allows schools and local educational agencies with high poverty rates to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students. “We feed over 300 kids a day with this program.
