Wyoming DEQ proposes remedial methods in Laramie County

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)/Storage Tank Program (STP) notified today of its proposal of remedial actions for petroleum-impacted sites in or near the cities of Cheyenne, Torrington and Lance Creek. Proposed remedial methods include soil excavation and disposal, air sparging, soil vapor extraction, and injection programs. Remediation systems will be installed near source areas and areas of contaminant migration, with construction scheduled to begin this summer. System operation will continue until remediation is complete, which is estimated to be 1 to 10 years. Previous DEQ/STP investigations revealed 19 petroleum-impacted sites in the project area, and authorized to remediate these sites by the Wyoming Environmental Quality Act, Article 14. A Draft Final Southeast Wyoming Remedial Action Plan, describing the project and proposed actions, is available at the Laramie County Library, an electronic copy is available at DEQ, 200 W. 17th Street, Cheyenne, WY 82002, and will be available for public review through April 22. Funding for this project is from the Wyoming Corrective Action Account and federal funds. Questions and comments concerning this project should be directed to the DEQ/STP Project Manager: Adrian Ducharme, 200 West 17th Street (2nd Floor), Cheyenne, WY 82002, 307-777-7073. *Feature photo: Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality/Pitchengine Communities* #shortgo #news
