Former Wal-Mart assistant manager allegedly wrote $97K worth of bad checks

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - A local woman is facing felony charges of theft after pocketing cashed bad checks for over three years. Christina Garcia, 40, of Torrington, was arrested last month on a warrant for felony check fraud in which she allegedly stole $97,415 from a Cheyenne Wal-Mart over a three year period while working as an assistant manager, according to court documents. Garcia allegedly cashed 133 personal checks in the cash office at the local supermarket where the checks wouldn't be electronically verified before depositing, according to court documents. Garcia intercepted all 133 checks that returned to the store from Wal-Mart's corporate office for insufficient funds.
