(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - Cheyenne East High School's Agriculture Teacher Joseph Allen was announced today during a ceremony as this year's Arch Coal Teacher Achievement award, May 2. Allen is one of ten teachers throughout the state of Wyoming who have been selected and will be recognized this week for the Teacher Achievement Award. Logan Bonacorsi, Spokeswoman for Arch Coal, introduced Allen at the award ceremony this morning saying, "these teacher awards are special, the public nominates the teachers who are exceptional, these nominations come from students, other teachers, parents, and the general public." Allen thanked the student body for inspiring him to believe in all of his endeavors, and for nominating him for the award. "It is an honor to receive such an outstanding award, I am very blessed to work at East High School and to work with you guys (the students)," Allen said. "The reason I believe in everything I do, is what I see and do for students. This is a great honor, but it's definitely because of all of you guys," Allen said. *(left to right): Samuel Mirich, East High Principal; Logan Bonacorsi, Spokeswoman for Arch Coal; Jillian Balow, Superintendent of Public Instruction; Kathy Vetter, Wyoming Education Association; Marguerite Herman, Treasurer for the Wyoming School Board; John Lyttle, Superintendent; Award honoree, Joseph Allen; Jim Landen, Chairmen of the School Board; Bonacorsi's colleague from Gillette, Shiloh Bundall.
