(Cheyenne, Wyo) - Volunteers are braving the 40 degree weather today for the 11th Annual Cheyenne Day of Giving
at the Kiwanis Community House, 4603 Lions Park Dr., May 13.
Volunteers will be working hard to organize donations from local residents
until 5 p.m. this afternoon.
The local non-profit organization assists agencies by purchasing supplies
for them throughout the year, and today the entire community is invited to
take part in giving back to the community.
Volunteers with The Salvation Army are out braving the windy cold weather
to take care of volunteers of today's event. The service truck, Emergency
Disaster Services, will go out on disasters and serve first responders, but
is also seen at approximately 23 community events throughout the year.
Volunteers with Wyoming Independent Living (pictured above) will be taking
these donations back to their organization for community members in need,
who may not otherwise be able to afford them.
The Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne volunteers are working to organize
donations and into their respective areas for local organizations in town
that include; Needs, Inc., St. Joseph's Food Pantry, Wyoming Coalition for
the Homeless, and the Comea House.
Gary, a volunteer and representative of Lowe's, is manning the sign-in desk
at the Day of Giving event.
Local residents don't even have to step out of their vehicle to make a
donation. Volunteers are roadside ready to pickup donations drop-offs from
anyone, and will then sort out and transport the donations to their
