Volunteers gather donations from local residents for the 11th Annual Cheyenne Day of Giving

(Cheyenne, Wyo) - Volunteers are braving the 40 degree weather today for the 11th Annual Cheyenne Day of Giving event at the Kiwanis Community House, 4603 Lions Park Dr., May 13. Volunteers will be working hard to organize donations from local residents until 5 p.m. this afternoon. The local non-profit organization assists agencies by purchasing supplies for them throughout the year, and today the entire community is invited to take part in giving back to the community. Volunteers with The Salvation Army are out braving the windy cold weather to take care of volunteers of today's event. The service truck, Emergency Disaster Services, will go out on disasters and serve first responders, but is also seen at approximately 23 community events throughout the year. Volunteers with Wyoming Independent Living (pictured above) will be taking these donations back to their organization for community members in need, who may not otherwise be able to afford them. The Boys & Girls Club of Cheyenne volunteers are working to organize donations and into their respective areas for local organizations in town that include; Needs, Inc., St. Joseph's Food Pantry, Wyoming Coalition for the Homeless, and the Comea House. Gary, a volunteer and representative of Lowe's, is manning the sign-in desk at the Day of Giving event. Local residents don't even have to step out of their vehicle to make a donation. Volunteers are roadside ready to pickup donations drop-offs from anyone, and will then sort out and transport the donations to their respective areas. *See the list of needed items along with additional information at: www.CheyenneDayOfGiving.org .* *h/t photos: Pitchengine Communities* #shortgo #news
