Fatal crash in icy road conditions near Laramie claims life of 20 year old

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - A fatal crash on US Highway 287 south of Laramie claimed the life of a 20-year-old yesterday, May 17. Matthew Fahs-Brown, 20, of North Manchester, Indiana was a backseat passenger in a 2004 Suzuki XL7 SUV that was being driven by a 20 year old Richmond, Kentucky resident. The SUV was traveling south on US 287 in light snow with wet and icy road conditions. While crossing over a bridge deck, the driver lost control of the Suzuki, and the vehicle left the highway, tripped and rolled multiple times. Fahs-Brown was not wearing his seat belt and was ejected during the crash. He was transported by ground ambulance to Ivinson Memorial Hospital (IMH) in Laramie where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver and a second passenger in the SUV were both wearing their seat belts during the crash. They were transported by ground ambulance to IMH where the driver was treated and released, the second passenger was hospitalized. Speed too fast for the conditions of the highway and driver fatigue are being investigated as contributing factors in this crash that marked the 17th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2016. No charges have been filed at this time from this crash. Alcohol and/or drug use are not suspected factors in this crash. The investigation is still ongoing. #shortgo #news
