LCCC's Trey Yates heads to College National Finals Rodeo in Casper

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - Laramie County Community College's Trey Yates of the Rodeo Team will be heading to Casper to compete in the College National Finals Rodeo, June 10-18. Yates, of Pueblo, Colo., says this will be his third time at CNFR, qualifying as a heeler after placing third in the 2016 Central Rocky Mountain Region rodeo. He and his team partner, Clayton Van Aken, took third with a 35 draw and a 6.4 time. Yates says he usually competes in heeling and tie down categories. *h/t photo: Ty Stockton/Pitchengine Communities* Yates went to school at Torrington for two years before coming to LCCC as an agricultural business major, while also roping calves. Yates ropes with his team partner, VanAken, who went to school in Chadron, NE. As for preparing for the upcoming rodeo event in Casper, Yates says, "I just plan on working on my roping and my horses, keeping my mental game strong.
