16 Union Pacific rail cars headed for Nebraska crash near Cheyenne today

(Cheyenne, Wyo.) - A 166-car train headed eastbound was derailed west of Cheyenne earlier this afternoon, June 6. Sixteen rail cars carrying mixed freight came off the train track, according to a spokesperson with Union Pacific Railroad. The train originated in Hinkle, Oregon and was destined for North Platte, Nebraska when it derailed near Cheyenne around 1:40 p.m. There were no injuries to the crew or the public.
