Dept. of Transportation deals with limited services due to staff shortages

(Laramie, Wyo.) - If you're looking to stop at the DMV during your lunch hour, you might have to wait. The Driver Services location in Laramie has recently posted that they will have limited services due to staff shortages, with only two full-time workers manning the whole office. Offices up in Gillette are experiencing the same . Due to the shortage they're now closing from 12 - 1 p.m. every day for lunch, and taking appointment-only for testing. Their normal hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Amy Brooks, Supervisor for Laramie Driver Services, says their office recently got approved to start advertising for a part-time position, but that it will probably be at least another month before they have the additional help. Brooks stated that although they're having a difficult time keeping up with the heavy traffic of students coming from the university and WyoTech, that there is a huge bright-side to the situation. "Other people from other offices will travel throughout the state to help each other out, all of the time," Brooks said. "When someone is out sick, or out for a funeral, we travel and help out to take away some of that burden and stress off another office or individual." "We work together really well, do what we can where we can, and make the best of it." Brooks stated that in her office's recent shortage, that employees from Rawlins, Riverton, and Cheyenne have come to help out her office location. #shortgo #news
